Sgt. Robert K. Virden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Virden of 1120 Seventh Ave., has graduated at Lowry Air Force Base, Colo., from the U.S. Air Force supply inventory specialist course conducted by the Air Training Command.
Richard Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell L. Johnson, was graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis at commencement ceremonies held at the college on May 28.

Twenty-five years of service without a day’s absence due to illness was the occasion for a dinner at Island View Lodge honoring Mrs. Billy (Wilma) Phelan by the J.C. Penney company and employees, who presented Mrs. Phelan with a silver serving set.
Seaman Apprentice James Silvers left by train to return to his naval base in San Diego, Calif. He has been on leave for the past week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Silvers.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Baumchen, Pelland Junction, are the parents of a son, Darren Arnold, born at 1:43 a.m. today in La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances. The infant weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces.
Miss Janet Gibb of San Francisco, Calif., is spending this week visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Gibb, 128 Riverview.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Brown, weight, 8 pounds, 2 ounces. Name chosen, Kathryn Renee.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Phair, 615 10th Ave., weight, 7 pounds, 9 ounces.
Donald Brantal, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brantal, Loman Route, this year completed five years of school without missing a day.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christensen Jr., Eleventh Street, are parents of a daughter born today at the Laurion Maternity Home.
George Bergstedt, 2nd Class Petty Officer, U.S. Navy, arrived from Newfoundland to spend 15 days visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Bergstedt.
Mrs. Scott Couture and daughter, Diane, returned Friday from Cranberry Bay, Rainy Lake, where they visited at the Lawrence Olson home.
Friends here will be glad to know that Joe Douglas today received a wire from his son, Ronald, from Australia. “Well and happy” was the text of the message. Ronald is a first class machinist mate in the U.S. Navy.
