A former Falls resident shared honors for the Fayetteville, Ark., police department’s humanitarian award. Kim Adee, son of Eunice and the late Lyman Adee of Van Lynn Road, was recognized recently along with fellow police officer Angela Munson for his contributions “beyond the call of duty in dealing with the public and fellow employees and in promoting harmony within the department.”

Three goals in the final 15 minutes of the championship game proved to be too much for Grand Rapids as International Falls came from a one-goal deficit to win the Minnesota State High School Hockey title 3-2 before a record crowd of 15,693.
Morris Virden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Virden, was recently at his parental home for a 33-day leave. He is now stationed in Korea for a 13-month tour of duty.
George Saunders, superintendent of School District 363 since its organization in 1961, submitted his resignation to the school board at their meeting Tuesday.

Marcy Ann Ruport, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ruport, Island View Route, celebrated her 10th birthday Monday after school. The 20 guests were Marcy’s classmates from fourth grade at St. Thomas School.
Gerald D. Phaklides, 1957 Falls High School graduate, has qualified for the dean’s honor roll at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, Wis.
A pink and blue shower was given to honor Mrs. James Rognerud at the home of Mrs. Ralph Nelson, 1003 10th St.

C.V. Linsten, Oveson building, is a patient in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, and expects to undergo an operation Thursday. The veteran real estate man entered the hospital last Friday.

Floyd Fullwiler, who was born Feb. 29 during a leap year, actually celebrates his birth only once in four years. His colleagues in the Birthday Whist Club, however, refuse to be guided by the calendar and have enacted a rule that Mr. Fullwiler entertain the club every year, at the meeting nearest Feb. 29.
Archie Caple, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Caple, is doing as well as can be expected following an appendectomy at the Littlefork Hospital on Saturday.
A surprise birthday party was given for Milton Holmestead at his home, 1201 Second Ave. E., Sunday afternoon. Hostesses were Mrs. Arne Hill and Mrs. John Stone.
Mrs. Ida Jewett, Littlefork, has moved to International Falls and is making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Skifstrom.
