The following students from Falls Senior High School have been accepted for enrollment at Moorhead State University: James Michael Rischar, son of Jim and Mary Lou Rischar; Timothy Wayne Wegner, son of Gordon and Kay Wegner; and Stacey Lynne Burns, daughter of Terry and Shirley Burns.

Lester Ewald was recognized for 54 years of driving school bus at Monday’s school board meeting.

40 YEARS AGO

Craig Swoboda, Mike Krueger and Clifford Peterson recently received the Arrow of the Light Award which is the highest award given to Cub Scouts before they go into Boy Scouts.

Prize winners in the 1972 poster contest on smoking and health sponsored by the Koochiching County Unit of the American Cancer Society are: Randy Bird, 10, Alexander Baker School, third prize; Robert Black, 11, Alexander Baker School, second prize; and Joan Mielke, 12, St. Thomas School, first prize.

Debra Krats was third place winner in the 25th annual Voice of Democracy speech contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 8th District and the Ladies Auxiliary.

New officers of Brownie Troop 134 are: president, Paula Gunther; vice president, Donna Gartzke; treasurer, Ramona Fraik; and scribe, Doreen Breneman.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Qualley, 7 pounds, 3 1/2 ounces.

Tony Lynch, Falls Bronco and captain this year of the basketball team, was named by a Twin City radio station to its All-State basketball team of the year.

New officers of Brownie Troop 144 are: president, Barbara Elo; treasurer, Brenda Hart; and scribe, Nancy Phaklides.

The Russell Raboin family has moved to the LuVerne Leadstrom house which they recently purchased.

A post-nuptial shower honored Mrs. William Immel, Island View Route, Friday evening at Cafe Revell, the Falls. Mrs. Immel, the former Minnie Schaefer, is employed at Cafe Revell.

A daughter was born March 11 at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Skrien, 1201 First Ave. W., weight, 10 pounds.

New officers of Brownie Troop 158 are: Sandra Larson, president; Linda Lindberg, vice president; Lucille Nelson, secretary; Doreen Pular, treasurer; and Mary Lee Anderson, scribe.

70 YEARS AGO

Mulligan and refreshments were served to members of the “Westend Filling Station Sewing Circle” when they gathered last night at LeDuc’s service station to bid farewell to Andy Peterson. The guest of honor will enter Army service Thursday.

R.H. Rutledge was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party at his home. It was his 72nd birthday anniversary. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rutledge, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Vnuck, Mr. and Mrs. Sylva LaJambe, Miss Susie Kavanaugh, Marvin Rutledge and C.W. Runkle.

Jeannette O’Sell is the newest addition to the sophomore class at Falls High. She was formerly a student at Warroad.

A surprise birthday party was given at the home of Mrs. Martin Olson, Carson-Lupie Addition, for Mrs. Oscar Johnson. Hostesses were Mmes. Olson, Elvin Peggar and Robert Johnson.
