What a way to celebrate! The Broncos 8-3 hockey win over Bemidji was the just-what-I-wanted gift to Paul Brown who celebrated his birthday Friday.

Bowler Lindy Lundeen, formerly of International Falls and Duluth, has been named the assistant manager of the 72-lane Stadium Bowl in Houston, Texas.

New members of the Koochiching Men’s Garden Club are Harold Langdon and Leonard Peterson.

Mrs. Rufus E. (Catherine) Bennett, 84, early day resident, passed away early yesterday morning. The family arrived here in 1904 from Cass Lake and operated the International Hotel, where the present Iltis Drug Store is located. The family constructed the original Island View Hotel in 1908. It was operated by them for several years as well as the apartment houses and flats at Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street.

A reception honoring Dr. R.A. MacDonald and family will be held in the Littlefork-Big Falls High School on March 25, starting at 2 o’clock. Dr. MacDonald and family plan to leave Littlefork soon for Grand Marais where they will make their home.

The Moose team bowlers captured high spot in the Border bowling contest. Team members are Elmer Rostie, Duncan Rostie, Stan Olson, Gene Reeves, Merlin Horgen and Clarence Sundberg.

Gustav Blumer, 64, father of Glen Blumer, member of the Falls state hockey championship team, died at 9:15 a.m. yesterday in Falls Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Leonard Finup, South International Falls, who was confined to St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, for several days for medical attention, returned home Wednesday.

Member of Koochiching County’s first draft group after start of the Korean war, Pfc. Everett E. Green Jr., is enjoying a 30-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Green, French Addition.

Mrs. John Molodek was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party at the Ukrainian Hall. There were 60 friends from this city and Fort Frances present.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kalar (Alvena Caple), 1019 Ninth St., are parents of a son born today in the Littlefork Hospital. Edward Michael are the names chosen for the child.

Earl Watt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Watt, fell on his ski stick while out skiing. He was rushed to Littlefork Hospital where 17 stitches were taken in his upper leg.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stone (June Keable) of French Addition announce the birth of a daughter today at the Laurion Maternity Home. Judith Ann will be the child’s name.
