Perhaps the most indignant man in International Falls on this St. Patrick’s Day is J. Robert Ryan, a stalwart Irishman who is the city’s treasurer. At the crack of dawn Ryan hoisted his green flag outside his home at 914 Seventh St. to remind passersby of his ancestry. Shortly before noon he told police someone had stolen the flag.

Making his first bid for public office Robert W. Larsen announced that he would be a candidate for the position of alderman-at-large in the April 4 city election. Larsen, 27, and single, has been a business instructor at Falls High School for the past three years.

Mrs. Frank Noblet, 612 Seventh Ave., was guest of honor at a pink and blue shower in her home.
Broncos Tony Lynch, basketball captain this year, and Norm Manselle were picked by district coaches and sports writers to the All-District 27 basketball team, and followed up with an additional honor by being picked for the All-District Tournament team. Duane Johnson and Dan Bilben were named to the tournament second team. Joe Manselle received honorable mention.
One of the winners in the City League hockey league were the Palcos. Team members are Gary LeDuc, Rennie Calder, Gary Goulet, Steve Ross, Tim Sheehy, Mike Peterson, Beaver Earnest, Chuck Olson and coach Jim Amidon, Bronco hockey star who helped capture the state hockey championship two weeks ago.
Miss Shelly Jones, who was Timbertennial Queen III and a finalist in the Miss Minnesota Pageant in 1959, is the 1962 winner over 14 finalists in the “Miss Nancy Taylor International Secretary of 1962” contest.

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mannausau, Loman, weight, 10 pounds, 6 ounces. Name chosen, Donald Leon.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Aasen, South International Falls, weight, 7 pounds, 5 ounces. Name chosen, Patricia Joanne.
Lorraine Korpi entertained friends and relatives at a 5 o’clock dinner party at her home in South International Falls in celebration of her ninth birthday anniversary.
The Falls Bees, with an 11-1 mark over the season took the “B” division of the city basketball league. Team members are: Doyle Hartje, Mike Porter, Joe Crotty, Ernest Krause, Elmer Braaten, Larry Domish, Don Rapaway and Joe McGregor. Border Bar last night climaxed an undefeated season by winning its second league cage championship in a row. Team members are: Ray Harala, Art Turenne, Wayne Haglund, Aldo DeMarki, Gordon Paschka and Bill Howard.

Mrs. Joe Batdorf of Ericsburg was pleasantly surprised on her birthday March 12 when her son, Harry Batdorf, called her long-distance. Harry is a private at Camp Wallace, Texas.
The stork delivered a St. Patrick’s Day daughter for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alexander at Northern Minnesota Hospital at 5:30 a.m. today.
St. Patrick will have one namesake in International Falls this year, but it will be Patricia. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cronkhite, 411 1/2 Sixth St., have chosen that name for their daughter born at 9 a.m. today at their home. The child weighed 10 pounds.
A daughter was born at 1:20 p.m. at the Laurion Maternity Home to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Krantz, 507 Eighth St. The baby, who weighed 8 1/4 pounds, is the third daughter in the family. They have one son.
