The Universal Cut-Price Store, located in the former Iltis Drug Store at 400 Third St., opened for business Monday. Phil Campe is store manager and assisting Campe in the operation of the store are Sally Higgins and Mrs. Campe.
Bruce Wallen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lindy Wallen, 909 10th St., has been named the 1971 State of Minnesota Outstanding DeMolay.
Mrs. John P. Eberhart was the guest of honor at a baby shower at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. John Eberhart, 911 Eighth St.

Two Falls men are being assigned to new bases to attend technical training courses following completion of United States Air Force basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Airman Basic Thomas J. O’Leary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent O’Leary of South International Falls, will attend an administrative specialist course at Amarillo Air Force Base, Texas. Airman Basic Kenneth G. LaVigne, son of Bruno LaVigne, 312 Sixth St., will attend a passenger specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
Representing Grade 8 of St. Thomas School in the Virginia Deanery Knights of Columbus catechetical contest this Sunday in the KC Hall in Virginia will be Janet Burrock, 912 Second St., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burrock, and Kalman Johnson, 817 Seventh Ave., son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Johnson.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Miller of Big Falls announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Shirley, to Donald Kleppe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kleppe, Littlefork.
Miss Linda Belanger, Loman Route, celebrated her birthday Wednesday evening. Her cousins from the Falls, the Graves, Kim Clark, Grandma Stenberg, and Lyn were guests.

Misses Louise and Susan Anderson, Forest Inn Apartments, entertained members of the Falls chapter of the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association Tuesday evening. Refreshments were served.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hall, Island View Route.
Mrs. Roy Lutz, Dove Apartments, has returned from Los Angeles, Calif., where she spent three months. She visited her nephew, William Harrison, and the Harry Dodds family, formerly of the Falls, in Los Angeles and attended the Minnesota picnic there in February.
William Harala, South International Falls, has been named manager of the meat market at the National Food Store, Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. George Fulton, 610 Eighth St., weight, 7 pounds, 14 ounces.
