Mr. and Mrs. John (Lee Stepoway) Vadnais will open a jewelry and watch repair shop at 443 Fourth St. in the Falls next Monday. The new business will be located in the former "Husfliden," a gift and knitting shop, operated by Mrs. Johanna Moe.
Mrs. Rudy (Aleta) Imhof has been named postmaster at Littlefork.
Walter Semeniuk, who resides at 301 Seventh St., was honored on his 80th birthday with a celebration attended by 60 friends on March 16 in Duluth.

Falls Rotarians, at their regular weekly meeting, enjoyed hearing the non-original oration by Lee Wagness, Falls High School senior, who won a gold medal in the Duluth invitational speech meet held there.
Mrs. Russell Swenson, Riverside Park, was hostess Wednesday after school to a dinner party honoring her daughter, Melody, on her seventh birthday.
The Northwestern Ontario Art Association's Scholarship for the next art course held at the Quetico Conference and Training Center was won by a Falls High School senior, Norman Gerlach.
Miss Florence Hubbard, Forest Inn Apartments, was feted when a number of friends stopped by to wish her a happy 84th birthday. Mrs. Mary Zurick and Mrs. A.R. Wilson were co-hostesses for the afternoon.

Mrs. Alfred Oliver, 1009 Sixth St., will leave here Sunday to begin a three-month trip which will take her to her native Norway. It will be her first trip back since she left that country as a bride 29 years ago.
Champion speller of Koochiching grade schools is Nancy Cousineau, 12, St. Thomas student who brought the title to International Falls for the first time in the eight-year history of the competition.

Relatives and friends gathered at the Lawrence Ruelle home, 514 Seventh Ave., to honor Lt. Ronald L. Ruelle, who will leave for his new post in Dallas, Texas.
Death early Sunday morning ended the long and colorful career of Sheriff Hugh Reidy, Koochiching County pioneer and its chief law enforcing officer since 1922.
Charles Corrin, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Corrin, arrived home from Newfoundland where he has been employed on a defense project.
International Falls received a first place honor in the District 27 declamation contest held in Eveleth Saturday. Robert Hillstead with his excellent rendition of the reading, "Let There Be Man," from Green Pastures, was awarded first place in the humorous division, making him eligible to participate in the regional contest in Coleraine.
