Kristen A. Kalstad, 17-year-old daughter of James M. and Nancy A. Kalstad, 134 Riverview Boulevard, has been selected 1987 Girl Stater by the American Legion Auxiliary. Jeannine Coulombe, 16, daughter of Kay Coulombe, 101 Shorewood Drive, is the alternate.

Leo Cassibo was elected chairman of the North Border District of the Boy Scouts Tuesday night during the district’s annual meeting in the Rex Hotel. Cassibo takes over from Guy Schaefer.
Peter Waselovich and Paul Green were named to the 1972 All-State Hockey Team of the Year.
Mrs. Iona Metcalf is the newest member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Peter Graham Post 2948 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. James Tuey, 6 pounds, 14 ounces.
An open house reception was held in the Legion Hall on Sunday afternoon honoring Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grotberg on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
An old landmark, the large barn built by C.B. Watrous and son in 1912, was razed by Ron Wening recently. It was considered dangerous but many of the hand-hewed timbers were found as sound as when built.
Second place in the Girls’ Recreation basketball league went to “The Innocents.” Team members are Mary Larson, Patty Coran, Roberta Curran, Anna Mae Jackson, Linda Shuff, Linda Larsen and Carla Maurstad.

Mrs. Emily Pederson and Miss Lila Solo of the Falls attended a surprise party for Mrs. Pederson’s brother, August Boquist, in Mizpah Saturday evening. The ladies returned to the Falls by bus Sunday night.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Allan Boquist, 110 13th St. W., weight, 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Name chosen, Lorene Patrice. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mellum, Loman, and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Boquist, Big Falls.
Mrs. Kenneth Everett and son, Michael, 16 months, of Minneapolis, are spending several weeks here at the home of Mrs. Everett’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Bolton, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Gravening.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kantor of Ericsburg received word Saturday that their son, Pvt. (F.C.) Emil Kantor has been transferred from Fort Screven, Ga., to the Electrical Training School at Fort Monroe, Va., for a three-month course.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Crosby, 422 1/2 Seventh St., have chosen the names Brian Francis for their son born this noon at Laurion Maternity Home.
Minnesota Markets — Fresh water smelts, four pounds for 25 cents; lean meaty pork ribs, four pounds for 25 cents; thin sliced liver, 15 cents a pound; hamburger steak, 15 cents a pound; salmon steak, choice centers, 25 cents a pound.
The Louis Warmuth family has moved from their residence in Carson-Lupie Addition to the Dumais home in Sawmill Addition.
Jo Ann and Duane Higby are confined to their home with whooping cough.
