Ron, Janet, Jacob and Rachel Bowman welcome their new son and brother Benjamin Paul. He was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital and weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces.

Doug and Mary Leerssen are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Heather Marie, 8 pounds, 4 ounces, 22 inches long, born today.

A new business, Casual Corridor, specializing in sizes 14-plus, opened recently in The Corridor in downtown International Falls. Don Chowan is owner and Debbi Spry is manager.

Bowling league champs in the Voyageur League were Carol Readman, Sandy Mindl, Evelyn Wagner, Carol Oustad, Shirley Livingston and Linda Beck.

Debra Nash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nash, and Dorinda Simons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Simons, were awarded Awana scholarships to attend Silver Birch Camp on Wolf River near Antigo, Wis., in June.

Ignatius Chic is a new patient at Falls Nursing Home.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kopkie, 8 pounds, 8 1/4 ounces.

The International Falls City Council approved the application of Walter Cudmore, owner of Cudmore Funeral Home, for the construction of a new mortuary on Third Avenue, present site of Tyson Cabins.

Albert J. Beck, 523 Eighth St., announces the forthcoming marriage of his daughter, Joanne Alberta, to Allen R. Hesse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hesse, Glenwood.

New officers of The Neighborly Needleworkers are Mrs. Dean Jensen, president; Mrs. Walter Glowack Jr., secretary; and Mrs. George Harrington, treasurer.

60 YEARS AGO

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Alstrom, 816 11th Ave., weight, 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Name chosen, Danny Arthur.

Mr. and Mrs. James Sedaris report they were happy to get back to their home town last weekend after eight months of travel at home and abroad. They are occupying their summer home at Newport, Rainy Lake.

Monday was moving day in Municipal Building. Mrs. Mary Malerich, water department clerk, has taken over the engineer’s quarters. Engineer E.W. Downward has transferred to a room reserved for the city attorney but used only irregularly as a conference room. The water department clerk formerly was located in the office of City Clerk Vernon L. Peterson.

P.H. Fogarty, retiring Koochiching County land commissioner, was honored by co-workers at the courthouse Monday afternoon. About 25 county employees attended the coffee party. A billfold and gift of money were presented to Mr. Fogarty by Otis Gordon, county auditor.

70 YEARS AGO

Harry Kimpton, pioneer resident and mail carrier, is reported to be suffering from a severe case of blood poisoning to his leg. He was taken to Hanover Hospital for treatment Sunday.

In honor of William Ballard, who has enlisted in the Army, 60 friends gathered in the Rogers School Friday for a farewell party.

Miss Olga Markow was guest of honor at a birthday party Saturday evening at the home of Miss Margaret Christie.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Lemke Jr., 1107 Seventh St., announce the birth of a daughter today at the Northern Minnesota Hospital.
