Ethel Clauson and Arlene Olestad joined nearly 600 Minnesota women of 65 years of age who participated in the creation of The Crystal Quilt, a celebration of older women, in the Minneapolis IDS Center’s Crystal Court on Sunday.

Jared Wennstrom competed in the 34th annual Northern Minnesota Regional Science Fair conducted on the campus of Bemidji State University.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutherland.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Peterson.

Two school records fell as the girl’s track team won all 14 events to run away with a 107-16 victory over Biwabik in the dual meet. Linda Fulford and Sue Jensen set a record in the 50 yard hurdles in a time of 8.1, taking .4 off the old record. Shot putter Sue Alstrom tossed the iron ball 36 feet 4 inches for the other record.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ross Thompson, 7 pounds, 5 ounces.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Rasmussen, 7 pounds, 13 1/2 ounces.

Harry Schlickling, 78, longtime Falls carpenter, passed away early Wednesday afternoon at Falls Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Anna Servis, South International Falls, recently welcomed her 71st great-grandchild, Martin Robert Laman.

60 YEARS AGO

Arnold Johnson, county timber cruiser, has been named by the Koochiching County board to succeed P.H. Fogarty as Koochiching County land commissioner.

Herbert Stubee, 245 Sixth St., injured his left hand and lost the middle of the hand last Thursday at the Stubee Cabinet shop where he was working with a rip saw. Herbert is associated with his father, Lars Stubee, as a cabinet maker.

Three personnel additions to Minnesota and Ontario Paper Company’s research department were announced by J.B. Faegre, president. They include William H. McPherson, 31, supervisor of paper research; Neal I. Paulsen, 47, manager of paper development; and Graham B. Cross, 30, service engineer, Insulite technical services.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fulton of the Falls have been named agents for the Fuller brush and Debutante cosmetic line. Mr. Fulton will continue his employment in the filter plant of Mando. The firm was formerly represented here by William T. Fulton, recently named stock clerk at the city off-sale liquor store.

70 YEARS AGO

Jack Morrison of the MD&W Railway recently purchased a lot in the Point O’Pines vicinity. Jack expects to build soon if he can hold his ideas down to $500.

William Brosvick of the Falls High School faculty underwent an appendectomy at the Littlefork Hospital.

At the monthly meeting of the city library board last evening in the library building, the resignation of Miss Lois Wenberg, an assistant librarian, was accepted.

Miss Lois Lutz of Ironwood, Mich., has arrived here to be manager of the Montgomery-Ward order office. She replaces D. Corcoran who is now in the U.S. Army.
