Patrick B. Lucek, a senior at Indus High School, recently enlisted in the United States Navy for guaranteed training at the Navy’s Sonar Technician School.

Anthony (Tony) Piekarski, 64, of 1315 13th Ave., died Friday evening in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth. He began a general contracting business in 1946 and, at the time of his death, was still engaged in the business with his son, Robert.

Mr. M.M. Abbott’s State Farm Mutual Insurance accounts have been turned over to John Pushkin’s Insurance office.

Donald K. Enzmann, area manager for Mobile Radio Division of General Electric in Atlanta, Ga., former resident of the Falls, has been nominated for the coveted Phillippe Award for distinguished service.

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Iraci, 6 pounds, 1 ounce.

Beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed Sandra Tone, 19, will represent the border city at the Miss Minnesota Pageant in Rochester June 2.

International Falls music students Vicky Constantine, Eddie Anderson, Janet Frank, Jill Ruud and Mary Mether have received Minnesota Music Teachers Association certificates for piano and voice.

Confirmed at a recent service at First Lutheran Church were Gary Reuter, Gary Johnson, Marilee Byman, Virginia Richmond, Diane Berg, Betty Henrickson, Michael Smith, Dale Deneen, Arthur Johnson, Richard Holen, Lawrence Wickstrom, David Gawtry, Steve Bilben, David Mannausau and Harlan Steele.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bruce, 11th Avenue and 13th Street, weight, 8 pounds, 14 ounces. Name chosen, Bradley Scott.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wilson, 1203 Third St., weight, 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

W.H. Culbertson, 610 Fourth Ave., was named this evening as manager of the International Falls municipal liquor store. Culbertson presently is manager of the Ranier municipal liquor dispensary.

Earl B. Watt, 23, airman, third class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Z. Watt of Ray, has entered the aircraft mechanics’ school at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.

Mrs. Leo Brunette received an unusual and valued birthday gift. It was a diary owned by her grandfather, William Fagen, written in 1865 when he was 24 years old.

Mrs. Valdimar Berglin was guest of honor at a shower at the home of Mrs. J.L. Albertson, 819 Fifth St. A 1:30 p.m. luncheon was served after which the ladies played keno.

Senior class president James Merrill and his partner, Miss Deloris Molstre, will lead the grand march at the spring Prom Saturday night in Falls High Auditorium.

Falls High News — Elaine Parkin has been erased from the “available” list. Her birthday netted her a sparkler for the third finger, left hand.
