Koochiching Lodge No. 270 A.F. & A.M. member George Finstad of Ranier has been awarded a 50-year pin and certificate from the Grand Lodge of Minnesota.
Jim Stone and his brother, Bob, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stone of 1010 Eighth St., are busy working on their soapbox derbies for the July 9 running at the regional at Grand Rapids.
Linda Fulford, Julie and Jean Prettyman won the 440 relay in a time of 55 seconds to set a school record at St. Cloud Saturday.

James DeBenedet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard DeBenedet, 134 12th St., received a special certificate as the highest scoring student at St. Thomas School in recognition of achievement in the World Affairs program sponsored by the Minneapolis Star.
Mr. and Mrs. Bronko Nagurski, Sunset Beach, Rainy Lake, have received word of a daughter born to their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bronko Nagurski Jr. The little lady arrived yesterday at St. Joseph Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario.
Don Larson will be awarded a four-year scholarship for the University of Minnesota at the awards night to be held at senior high school at 7 p.m. Thursday.
A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Majerus, Loman Route, 7 pounds, 9 ounces, Michael Anthony.

Mrs. Arthur Anderson, 400 10th St., entertained at a farewell party in honor of Mrs. L.R. Russ, 404 10th St. Dr. and Mrs. Russ and children, Michael and Cynthia, will go to Bemidji June 1 to make their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Valdmir Berglin, 1419 First Ave. W., entertained at a family dinner at their home in honor of their daughter, Kristin, who was celebrating her first birthday anniversary.
Students of the journalism class at Falls High School and their instructor, Bruce M. Atwater, toured the printing plant of Border Publishing Company Monday afternoon, and returned Tuesday afternoon to study further the mechanics of newspaper publishing.
Patrol Inspector Otto Wagner of the International Falls unit of the Border Patrol has been made an investigator of the immigration and naturalization department at Flint, Mich.

A son was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Warmuth (Loretta Eslinger), Jameson Addition. The child, born at the Laurion Maternity Home, will be named Thomas George.
Names of Victor Costley, George McIntyre and Pat Roche were added to the growing list of International Falls men in the Naval Reserve. Last week they made application for enlistment through the Eveleth recruiting office.
Noting that schools will be dismissed in less than two weeks and that International Falls youngsters will be needing a supervised play program, the city council Monday night voted to hire Fred Williams as recreation director for the three summer months.
A newcomer to Fort Lewis, Wash., is Corp. Walter Leerssen who says he likes it very much and has been to Seattle once.
