Albert Schmidtbauer, painter in the paper mill, retired last month for reasons of health after working almost 27 years for Mando and Boise Cascade.
The ninth grade track team won the Virginia Invitational track meet over nine other teams with a total score of 58 points. Making up the team were Jeff Veeder, Sam Evanoff, Kevin Nagurski, Stewart Laurion, Rick Pearson, Wally Haglund, Dale Jensen, Scott Johnson, Jay Dunbar, Dave Anderson and Ron Lessard. Coach is Dick Ostroot and manager, Tim Watkins.
Mrs. Marna Christie, of International Falls, and August E. Behning, of Duluth, were united in marriage May 20 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

A son was born at 3 a.m. today to Minnesota Viking Frank M. Youso and his wife, the former Evelyn Pelland, at Falls Memorial Hospital. The infant, as yet unnamed, has two sisters, Raynita Lynn, 3 and Shelly Ann, 2.
Cadet Captain David E. Holt, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Holt, 1204 First Ave. E., will graduate from the U.S. Air Force academy at Colorado Springs, Colo., on June 6. He is the first border city youth to graduate from the academy.
Airman Third Class Kenneth G. LaVigne, is being reassigned to Nouasseur Air Base, Morocco, following his graduation from the United States Air Force technical training course for air passenger specialists at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
The Memorial Drivers 4-H Club, a new South International Falls group, held its initial meeting recently at the village hall. Officers elected are: Gary Sullivan, president; Sandra Tornes, vice president; Diane Bacon, secretary; Butch Springsteel, treasurer; and James Landmark, reporter.

Duane Lenth, machinist mate, fireman apprentice, arrived here to spend a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lenth, Rainy Lake Lodge.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Wiemer, 1314 13th Ave., weight, 6 pounds, 13 ounces.
Kermit Miller, well-known International Falls grocer, has leased Micheletti’s Store, 816 Ninth St. Miller will operate under the firm name Miller’s Market Basket which he popularized while in business until recently at 1029 Seventh St. His store was ruined by fire.
Members of the Falls High School 1952-53 student council are: Ancy Tone, June Sullivan, Janet Thompson, Joanne Beck, Pam Morse, Henrietta Martinson, Gerald Herman, Ronald Ciminski, Russell Hanover, Gerald Kvist, James Glowack and Robert LeBlanc.

Mrs. Sidney Tegman and children, Sidney and Rose Marie, accompanied by her sister, Evelyn Bohman, left for Portland, Ore., where they will join Mr. Tegman who is employed there.
Miss Ethelyn Murray, who plans to leave next Sunday to join her mother and two brothers in California, was honored at a farewell party arranged by fellow-workers and friends at the Merrimac Room.
