Former Falls Broncos Marc Glowack, Mike Forsythe, Doug Franz and Chris Vold are members of the Bemidji State University football team that plays at the Metrodome Nov. 21 as part of the 1987 Northern Intercollegiate Conference Football Classic.

Former Wednesday afternoon Bible study members and friends met at Barney’s Family Restaurant Nov. 9 for lunch to help Mrs. Robert MacClanahan celebrate her 80th birthday.

William R. Miller, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Miller, 1119 10th St., has joined the U.S. Air Force.

Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Jack Loveland were the honored guests at the Rainy Lake Reelers Square Dance Club party held recently in the Ranier Community Building.

A boy was born yesterday at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Puttbrese, Island View Route, 7 pounds, 14 ounces. Keven Roy.

Falls hunter Nick Etienne, 68, lost in the woods overnight, was found safe and apparently unharmed about 8 a.m. this morning by a search party of about 25 men.

Mrs. Al (Emma) Couture, 72, wife of former Chief of Police Al Couture, died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon at St. Luke’s Hospital at Duluth.

Jerry Wherley of the Falls, a former standout lineman for the Broncos, was named outstanding lineman of the year for the University of Minnesota, Duluth Bulldogs.

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carrier, 1122 10th St., weight, 7 pounds. Name chosen, Eugene Thomas.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Sabotta, Banen Apartments, weight, 9 pounds, 3 ounces.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones, South International Falls, weight, 8 pounds, 3 ounces. Name chosen, Catherine Marie.

Grappling crews resumed dragging Rainy River today for the body of Billy Arch, 4, who slipped into the icy water Tuesday noon.

 

70 YEARS AGO

 Judith Lynne are the names chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kirtland, Holler, for their daughter born at the Laurion Maternity Home yesterday.

Mr. and Mrs. Frederic E. Miles, Terrace Apartments, announce the birth of a daughter today at the Littlefork Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Crystal Beach, announce the birth of a daughter today at the Laurion Maternity Home. The child will be named Rosemary.

Mrs. Kirk Bolton and Mrs. Edward Hopke were jointly honored at a birthday party at the home of Mrs. Leon Coulter.
