A girl was born today at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Swanson, 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

Mrs. Floyd (Mary) Pettis, who deer hunts successfully almost every year, registered a 195-pound deer and her daughter, Mrs. Sally Zub, got a spike buck.

The 25th wedding anniversary party in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Elliott, Memorial Drive, will be held this Saturday at the South International Fire Hall.

A former Falls couple, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Schaedler, were honored recently at a golden wedding anniversary celebration at Bend, Ore.

Mr. and Mrs. Leslie G. Christensen, Papermakers Colony, will be honored on the occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary Monday evening at 8 p.m. in First Lutheran Church.

George Brandt, 605 Ninth St., was honored guest at a surprise birthday party and dinner Sunday at the home of Mrs. Dan Hoponuk, 501 Ninth St.

Janice McEldowney underwent a tonsillectomy at Falls Memorial Hospital.

A son was born yesterday to Pfc. and Mrs. Ervin Boyum at Petersburg, Va. The baby weighed 8 pounds.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Mrs. Herbert T. Williams of Ranier was guest of honor when Mrs. Spencer Clapp entertained the Birthday Club at her home in Ranier.

Mrs. Don Van Nest, who will leave Saturday to make her home in Minneapolis for the duration, was guest of honor at a party at the Ernest Thiele residence, 1108 Seventh St.

Bud Williams and family left this week for the West Coast where he will work in a defense plant.

Bernard Parks, Point O’Pines, left for Eveleth. From there he went to Minneapolis for final enlistment in the Navy.
