The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Leonard and Gurtie Jenson wish to invite all friends and relatives to a celebration of their parents’ 50th anniversary to be held at the Holiday Inn Nov. 21, 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Twelve-year-old Rob Aitchison of the Falls nailed a 205-pound, 17-point buck on his grandmother’s farm near Williams last week.

Ex-Bronco Keith “Huffer” Christianson of the Minnesota Fighting Saints scored the tying goal in Tuesday’s game against Cleveland to give him three goals and an assist, for four points for the year.

Roy Krats, assistant manager of Penney’s, recently received a plaque in recognition of service to the Boy Scouts.

Mr. and Mrs. George Dahl, Loman, entertained relatives at a Sunday dinner in honor of Mrs. Dahl’s mother, Mrs. Ragna Lauritson’s 85th birthday.

 

50 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lindvall will be honored on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary Nov. 25 at the Baptist Church, Littlefork.

A girl was born today at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Langton, 6 pounds, 7 ounces.

New officers of Girl Scout Troop 133 are Toni Marie Stappler, president; Kathy Franko, vice president; Debby Roseen, secretary; and Margaret Lucachick, treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jensen, 718 Sixth Ave., will be honored at their home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 o’clock at an open house in celebration of their silver wedding anniversary.

 

60 YEARS AGO

Backus Junior High School “A” scholastic standing — Ronald Caple, Eileen Lynch, Roberta Munro, Sandra Samson and Elmer Walls.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hosterman, who were married last week at Birchdale Congregational Church, are continuing their training at New Tribes Institute, Chico, Calif., preparatory to entering the foreign mission life.

A surprise birthday party at the home of Alex Parkin, 1024 Second St., honored Frank Papillon.

Miss Arlene Stenberg, on the nursing staff at Falls Memorial Hospital, underwent an appendectomy at Falls Memorial Hospital. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Stenberg, Highway 53.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Gus Nelson, merchant tailor here for many years, planned to leave for Grand Forks and Bismarck, N.D., where he will visit before going to California to make his home.

Francis Hobbins and Russell Lindvall, who have spent the last year working in a defense plant at Burbank, Calif., arrived home. They plan to enlist in one of the services this month.

Old City Hall, the venerable frame building on Fourth Avenue which housed city offices and was the social center of the community for many years, will soon pass into private hands. The city council voted Monday night to sell the property to the highest bidder, Frank H. Keyes, who offered $6,000 for the building and site on behalf of his sons, M.F. and Lewis Keyes.
