The Island View City Council appointed Gary Bowman to the vacant seat on the council left when Mayor Mike Williams was elevated from councilor to mayor in September.
Fullback/linebacker Eric Horner and noseguard Ed Morff were named to the All-Sea Range Conference team this week and five other Broncos gained honorable mention.

Mike Curran in goal for the Minnesota Fighting Saints posted the win over Cleveland Tuesday for his third win of the season. He’s lost four and tied one. Mike has one shutout to his credit.
The fifth and sixth grade pupils at Loman School gave a surprise birthday party for their teacher, Mrs. McClanahan.

Bronco hockey players Jim Amidon, Bob Hartje, Larry Roche, Les Eklund and Dick Haugland comprise the core around which coach Larry Ross will hope to build another state champion team.
A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bishop, Terri Lynn, 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
New officers of Brownie Troop 139 are Ann Walter, president; Debby Pugsley, vice president; Zona Johnson, scribe; and Martha Enzman, treasurer.
An open house will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Frisbie of Littlefork on Sunday, Nov. 25, honoring them on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Friends and relatives of Mrs. Frank Bemer, South International Falls, gathered at her home for a surprise housewarming party and presented her with a gift. Mrs. Bemer, who resided in Elma, Wash., since 1941, returned here recently to make her home.
Five sisters from southern Minnesota paid a surprise visit to their brother, Haven J. Stark, who has been a patient at Falls Memorial Hospital for the past three weeks.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ennis, Big Falls, weight, 6 pounds, 9 ounces. Name chosen, David Arthur.
Mrs. Birdie Reeve and daughter, Judy, 11, left St. Paul to make their home. Mrs. Reeve has accepted a job as cook at Booth Memorial Hospital in St. Paul. She has resided in Papermakers Colony 15 years.

A daughter was born today at the Laurion Maternity Home to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Slowe. Janet Marie are the names selected.
Attending the 75th birthday anniversary party for Dave Olson at the Jack Williamson home in Clementson Saturday night were Mrs. Charles J. Erickson, Mrs. F. Dumais, John Dumais, Mrs. Paul Stone and daughter, June, of this community.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lessard and daughter, Judy, left for Minneapolis where they will make their home while Mr. Lessard is employed at the Rosemount munitions plant.
Falls High School Photo Phellos Club recently elected the following officers: Walter Francis, president; Marguerite Lovejoy, secretary; and Virginia Cantwell, treasurer.
