There will be an open house Nov. 21, 2 to 4 p.m., at 1831 Seventh Ave. E., to honor Ann Vohler Micknal on her 80th birthday.

The family of Louise Larson cordially invites all friends and relatives to an open house honoring her 85th birthday at Zion Lutheran Church Nov. 22 from 1:30 to 3.

Jeffrey Otto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Otto, Ray North Road, was the guest of honor at his eighth birthday party recently.

The U.S. Air Force Academy announced that three local hockey players have made the 1972-73 hockey squad. The three are Mike Lucca, Marlo Mellum and Jim Jorgenson.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Myer.

 

50 YEARS AGO

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Etienne, Sylvester Charles, 6 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces.

Bemidji State College graduates from the Falls who have been placed through the college placement office are Jon Croasdale, Margaret Hall Lavin, Bernice Meyers, Larry Carlson and Peter Bilben.

At the regular meeting of the Band Mother Club, seven different styles of majorette uniforms were modeled to aid the committee in making a choice of style to purchase. Models were Jill Ruud, Janice Kocinski, Georgiann Biondich and Judy Rae Nelson.

The top entry so far in the Gateway Trading Post big buck contest is a 249-pound, six pointer bagged by Byron M. Leander, Cook.

 

60 YEARS AGO

AA Leslie Gambino and William Wagner Jr. are both continuing their navy training at Norman, Okla., Air Force Base.

John A. Abelman, USN, has received an advancement in rate to aviation electrician’s mate first class while serving with Photographic Squadron 61.

Success came to three high school students who teamed up to bag a pair of bucks on the opening day of the season. They are Warren Horgen, Dick Dier and Bob Wolfe.

Twin sons were born today to Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Dahl, Island View Route, weights, 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 7 pounds, 4 ounces.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Anna Mae Parsons, a junior, and Norma Thydean, a senior, have been chosen to represent Falls High in the annual tuberculosis essay contest.

Sgt. Henry Christianson is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl M. Christianson, Terrace Apartments.

Pvt. Henry Frahm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Frahm of Ray, is spending his furlough with his parents and other relatives in this vicinity.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pelland left Sunday night by train for Minneapolis to spend a few days visiting Mr. Pelland’s sister, Mrs. Guy Parker, before journeying to Los Angeles to make their home.
