Dave and Elaine Stadum announce the birth of their son, Leif Eldon, 3 pounds, 14 ounces, at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Nov. 22.

Eighty-year-old Gladys Wolfe recently crocheted a 25-foot long scarf for the Smokey the Bear tourist attraction.

40 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Lucachick, of Aurora, former residents of the Falls, announce the birth of their first child, a son, born Nov. 24.

This is the third year in a row that the Callies family have gathered for a Thanksgiving Day reunion. The event was held in the Rex Hotel. “Great Grampa” Callies is 81 years old.

The Henry Haugland residence at 1408 Home Lane was the scene of a family reunion on Thanksgiving Day.

50 YEARS AGO

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Don Carey, 7 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Darold Gustafson, 7 pounds, 4 1/2 ounces.

Jim Amidon, Falls High School senior and captain of the Bronco hockey team this year, was interviewed by an admissions representative of the United State Military Academy, West Point, last week.

Three local youths, Jack Havluck, Wayne Cousineau and Jack Bishop, left Saturday for Anchorage, Alaska, where they will spend three weeks caribou hunting.

60 YEARS AGO

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Arney, Riverside Park, weight, 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

Mr. and Mrs. John Engelking and daughter, Carol Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hodel and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Usiak will be guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Nygard, South International Falls, for a 5 o’clock dinner on Thanksgiving.

The John Bishop family, 1418 Second Ave. E., will have dinner Thursday at the home of Mrs. Bishop’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hardy, South International Falls.

Arthur Ihrig, 509 Ninth Ave., entered Falls Memorial Hospital this afternoon and underwent an emergency appendectomy.

70 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Guy Pullar, Third Avenue, are parents of a son born today at the Littlefork Hospital.

The grapevine says wedding bells will ring in December for Adeline Kantor of the Mando chemical laboratory, and Allen Gerlach of the U.S. Army Air Force. Allen is at present finishing his training in Louisiana.

Miss Phyllis Ecklund was elected honored queen of the local Bethel of Jobs Daughters.

Mrs. Mike Vetn was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party at the Ukrainian Hall.
