Joel Anderson, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Vergil Anderson, recently was awarded a research fellowship at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

Mrs. Sadie Steele, 1609 Third Ave. E., Justice of the Peace of South International Falls, was honored at her home celebrating her 71st birthday.
Jeffrey Ulch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ulch, was guest of honor at a party at the home of his parents. The occasion was his 10th birthday.
A triple celebration was enjoyed at the Dena Nicholson home where Thanksgiving dinner was served and Mrs. Nicholson and her grandson, Von Morgan, celebrated their birthdays.
A boy was born today at LaVerendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. John Patterson, 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

Mr. and Mrs. John Maruk, who recently moved to their new home at 121 Hiway Lane, Riverview, were honored at a surprise party at Ukrainian Hall.
James Turry, who is teaching at Clear Lake, and his fiancee, Miss Clarice Uehlin of St. Paul, are weekend guests at the home of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Turry, 412 Sixth St.
Airman 1/c George Bigler left Sunday for his base at Shreveport, La., after a 21-day leave here with relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Alex Pleimling, 818 Eighth St., announce the birth of a son Nov. 30 at the Laurion Maternity Home.
Mario Del Pup returned today from Minneapolis where he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Philip, Ed and Milton Gibson have left for Provo, Utah, where they are now employed in defense work. Their families remained here for the present.
Mrs. Marvin Erickson was guest of honor at a shower at the Moose Hall. Hostesses were a group of friends.
