A girl was born today at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Warren, 1207 Third St., 8 pounds, 2 ounces.
Relatives and friends gathered from near and far over the past weekend to join with Mr. and Mrs. Adolph VonderHaar, 512 Eighth St., to help them celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
Charles Edward Gedney, 45, owner and operator of the Falls sign company which bears his name, suffered a fatal heart attack this evening.
Corporal John L. Helgeson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer L. Helgeson of Clark’s Colony, has been assigned to the inspector-instructor staff, 90th Rifle Company, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as Unit Armorer.

Appointment of Paul W. Bartholomew as technical director, Paper Division, of Minnesota and Ontario Paper Company at International Falls was announced today by Clarence Larson, vice president in charge of production.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Enzmann, 1309 Ninth St., weight, 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
Michael Domish, a member of the 1951 Falls High School graduating class, recently enrolled for a business course at the Duluth branch of University of Minnesota.
Mrs. Marvin Richter, Point O’Pines, was honored guest at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Gus Holm, 1139 Eighth Ave.
70 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Anna Stone of Carson-Lupie Addition won an all-around electric grill, a Daily Journal door prize, at the Thursday evening Cooking School session.
Pvt. Gunner Nilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nilson, Rainy Lake, and Pvt. Fulvio Toninato, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Toninato, arrived home this morning from Fort George Wright, Spokane, Wash., to spend their furloughs from the Army.
Winner of the major prize at the last Cooking School session, a General Electric washer with damp dryer, was Mrs. Andrew Jespersen, whose farm at Rainy Lake was recently electrified.
There’ll be no electric bills for awhile for Mrs. Gerald Vold of Holler! Mrs. Vold won a year’s service from the Rainy River Improvement Company at the closing session of The Daily Journal Cooking School last night.
