Jon, Joan and B.J. Pearson are very proud to announce the birth of their son and brother, Spencer Jon, yesterday.

A Falls youngster’s dream inspired the latest addition to the Falls downtown business district — a store for baseball card collectors. Dubbed the Collection Connection at 519 Fourth Ave., the store is the brainchild of 13-year-old Mike Shermoen.

 

40 YEARS AGO

The huge burner on Highway 11 East was dismantled by construction workers over the weekend and the materials sold as scrap iron. The burner was erected by the Minnesota and Ontario Pulp and Paper Company about 1936. It was used to burn scrap material from the sawmill and refuse from the mill.

A boy was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Krtinich.

Mr. and Mrs. James Larson and family are new residents on the Ray North Road. They moved out from Papermakers Colony in the middle of September.

 

40 YEARS AGO

A boy was born at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Green, 6 pounds, 6 ounces.

Mrs. Ernest R. Anderson, 15th Street and Second Avenue East, entertained at a birthday party Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock in honor of her daughter, Mary Ann, who was 6 years old.

Falls High graduates Carole Desens and Kathie Callahan are attending the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis.

Army PFC. Robert Davidson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Keenan, recently completed the 21-week fixed station radio transmitter repair course at The Signal School, Fort Monmouth, N.J.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. David Anderson, Island View Route, 7 pounds, 2 ounces.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Lucachick, 1105 Seventh St., weight, 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Cole, 920 Third Ave., weight, 9 pounds, 3 ounces.

Falls High School cheerleaders who will whip up enthusiasm during the final home football game of the season Friday between the Broncos and Ely are Shirley Cronkhite, Sally Hanson, Carolyn Johnson, Pamela Morse, Kathleen Thompson, Juanita Oveson, Janet Pavek and Arlene Johnson.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Cpl. and Mrs. Peter M. Glennie (Helen Hietala), 1003 Seventh St., announce the birth of a son yesterday at the Laurion Maternity Home. Peter Alan are the names chosen for the child.

Frank B. Green of this city announces the marriage of his daughter, Betty Ann, to Private Phillip Frank Weir, stationed with the U.S. Army near Trenton, N.J., son of Mrs. Olive Hagen.

The J.C. Penney store associates held a potluck supper and farewell party Wednesday evening for Miss Arlene Skrief who left yesterday for Denver, Colo., and Miss Esther Klug, who went to San Diego.

Mae Kruger, Mando nurse, has tendered her resignation for Oct. 24. Miss Kruger will then spend some time at her home in Fairmont before resuming employment.
