Art Rinke, regional manager of the First American Insurance Agency, has announced the appointment of Kathy Hultman as manager of the First American Agency of International Falls.

Eileen Kane Nagurski, 73, died today at Falls Memorial Hospital.

A boy was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Douglas.

The junior high schools held a pep fest in the Backus Auditorium in preparation for the annual freshman-sophomore football game. Greg Patnaude and Marla Lemieux were crowned as the 1972 king and queen.

Mrs. David (Dorothy) Palm, Island View Route, has been named one of the top 100 Holiday Inn housekeepers in the international system of 1,460 Holiday Inns.

Virgil L. Corcoran, engineman first class, USN, son of Lloyd R. Corcoran, Island View Route, is serving aboard the submarine USS Capitaine.

Mrs. Muriel Nelson, 917 Seventh St., announces the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Yvonne Harriet, to Carroll Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Owen Johnson, Williams.

 

60 YEARS AGO

A-3c Noel J. Gagnon, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.V. Gagnon of South International Falls, has recently been assigned to Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., the Air Force’s important flight test center.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ophies of Aunt Tillie’s Cabins, Highway 53, have written friends from Palm Beach, Fla., that they will spend the winter on a trip through southern and western states. They plan to return here May 1 to re-open their cabin court.

Pvt. Richard J. Wenberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wenberg, has completed basic combat training at the signal corps replacement training center, Camp Gordon, Ga.

Frederich C. Town, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Town of Ray, was graduated from the wire electronics branch of the signal school at Fort Monmouth, N.J.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Westberg, 222 14th St., are parents of a son born today at the Laurion Maternity Home.

A daughter was born today at the Laurion Maternity Home to Sergeant and Mrs. Kenneth Jerome Hafdahl (Daisy Ekman). Susan Diane are the names chosen for the child.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arthurs of this city announce the birth of a son today at the Northern Minnesota Hospital. Curtis Wayne are the names chosen for the child.

Sam Bjerre of Loman visited in the city today. He plans to leave immediately for Alaska where he will be employed.
