Miss Pamela Mettler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Mettler of the Falls, a graduate of Falls High School, enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps yesterday.

New officers of the Browns Corner 4-H Club are: Tim Anderson, president; Karla Napper, vice president; Cammie Steinbach, treasurer; Chris Qualley, reporter; and Laura Qualley, secretary.

Jim Lyman Jr., 1418 Home Lane, was the winner of the 20-gauge shotgun in a drawing sponsored by the Koochiching County DFL party.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schaaf, 5 pounds, 11 ounces.

Mr. and Mrs. George Titus, Island View Route, left for Denver, Colo., where they will visit their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Titus. They plan to be away during the winter months.

Nancy Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nelson, is a junior at Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio.

Mary Donna Enzman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Enzman Jr., 1307 Ninth Ave., was honored at a birthday party after school at her home.

David L. Trompeter, AE3, USN, arrived home to spend a 20-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Trompeter, Ranier.

Charles McManus, a 1952 graduate of Falls High School, left this week for Chico, Calif.,, to enroll in Bible school at New Tribes Institute.

Jimmy Davis, 12, son of Mrs. Walter Strom, underwent surgery at Falls Memorial Hospital.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Miss Irene Klippness, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Klippness Sr., will leave this evening for Fort Snelling to enlist in the U.S. Army Nurses.

Mrs. Leon Pullar was guest of honor at a shower at the William Pullar home, Clarks Colony. Hostesses were Mrs. Guy Pullar, Mrs. Ellen Hartnell and Mrs. Rellias Pullar.

Mrs. Frank Graves and sons, Harold and Russell, and Mrs. Leo Bzdok and son, Archie, visited relatives in Virginia yesterday. The boys also had their eyes examined in Hibbing.

Robert Jornlin, of International Falls, a freshman at Concordia College, Moorhead, has been selected as a member of the Concordia Chapel Choir.
