Dennis Fischer, a former Falls resident, recently returned to the Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Ga., to head up the hospital’s physical therapy department.
Gerald Hilfer and Kevin Dowty were among the 24 students awarded graduate degrees at Bemidji State University at the conclusion of second summer session.

Dr. C.C. Craig, the border city’s 1961 Citizen of the Year and 46-year resident, today celebrates his 86th birthday.
Taking the oath of office today as new city attorney was Eugene Williamson who resides at 401 Seventh St.

Ched Lind, 715 1/2 Seventh St., was honored at a surprise birthday party Sunday evening. Whist was played and prizes were won by Mrs. John Kroeten, Mrs. Al Schmidtbauer, Roger Lehman and Ed Watry.
Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Haakenson are moving into their new home in Papermakers Colony this week. They have been residing with Mr. Haakenson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haakenson, Papermakers Colony, while their own home was being completed.
Walter Thydean, Island View Route, will receive a 25-year ring in a few days in recognition of long and loyal service to Minnesota and Ontario Paper Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferguson (Phyllis Seter), Papermakers Colony, announce the birth of a daughter yesterday at the Littlefork Hospital. Marrie Currine are the names chosen for the child.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ancel DeVries, Border Theater Apartments, today at the Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Leen, 1004 Seventh St., are parents of a daughter born Sept. 29 at their home. Donna Mae are the baby’s names.
Mrs. L.D. Harris and daughters, Josephine and Peggy, will leave this evening for Portland, Ore., to join Mr. Harris and son, Donald, and make their home.
