Joseph and Tammy Van Heel proudly announce the birth of their son today. He weighed 6 pounds, 7 1/4 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Former Bronco and Falls native Mike Curran was awarded the Olympic Spirit award in Washington, D.C. The award, sponsored by Maxwell House Coffee, was presented to Curran for “embodying the spirit of Olympism.”

Vernon Skrien of the Falls will be the instructor for a small engines mechanics vocational course to be offered this year at Rainy River State Junior College.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Melbo.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wright of Loman announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Linda Rae, to James William Gustavson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nils Gustavson of Brown’s Corner.

A son was born today at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. David Stuart, 8 pounds.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rosten, Blue Goose, 8 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces.

Gary R. Zauft has enrolled in the Air Force Reserve officers training program at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Pvt. Gary Germain, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Germain, 340 14th St., recently spent a two-week furlough with his parents after completing eight weeks of basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Otness were sponsors for Stephen Leonard Lindberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lindberg, at his baptismal at Zion Lutheran parsonage in the Falls Sunday evening.

Clayton Mannausau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mannausau, had his wrist broken while playing ball at school Friday.

Mando women employees honored Mrs. C.E. (Gladys) Lindvall at a farewell party in Green Shingle Inn, Ranier Road. Some 45 co-workers attended.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. James Preece, 1107 Sixth St., weight, 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

Mrs. Leon Coulter, who recently moved into her new home in Carson-Lupie Addition, was guest of honor at a surprise housewarming party.

Samuel E. Ekman and James G. Bergquist have enlisted in the ground crew of the air forces as specialists.

Mrs. Herman Fredrickson, Jameson Addition, was guest of honor at a shower at the home of Mrs. Martin Roatch.

Dr. and Mrs. John O. Burton (Merna Hanley) 905 Fifth St., announce the birth of a daughter today at the Littlefork Hospital. It is their first child.
