Martin and Margaret Hyatt and son Harold proudly announce the birth of their daughter and sister, Hailey Maileen. She was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital.
The family of Art and Carmela DeBenedet are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 5 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the East End Hall in Fort Frances.

Scheduled for opening in the near future is another new business establishment, Bridgeman’s, located in a new building adjacent to the Piggly Wiggly store. Owned by Russ Hanover, owner of the Walgreen International Drug store, the business will be managed by Bill Samuelson.
Arthur Cassibo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver Cassibo of South International Falls, has joined the U.S. Air Force.
Miss Margie Majerus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Majerus of Ericsburg, has enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps.
50 YEARS AGO
A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Douglas, John Gordon, 7 pounds, 5 3/4 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Olson Sr., Highway 53, announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Jeanne, to Richard Hedtke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hedtke, Baudette.
With a bit of ingenuity such as telephoning invitations by long distance and the hiding of out-of-town guests’ cars, Mrs. Otto Clarity, 1022 Ninth St., was able to carry out a surprise dinner party in honor of the 51st wedding anniversary of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Leigh, 1102 Ninth Ave.
60 YEARS AGO
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Glava, Thirteenth Street and Ninth Avenue, weight, 7 pounds. Name chosen, Debra Pearl.
Bantam League baseball champs are the Coca-Cola team. Members are Dennis Krantz, Billy Koski, Gregory Olson, Dale Walls, Tommy Sheehy, Rene LaBelle, Terry Sheehy, Bobby Bateman and Jimmy Bartkowski.
Richard Price of International Falls, who graduated last year from Bemidji State Teachers College, has accepted a teaching position at Red Lake. He will teach grades five and six.
Miss Shirley Speelman arrived here from Minneapolis to spend a week with her grandmother, Mrs. C.W. Speelman, 915 Riverside Drive. She will leave next week and will attend Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa.
70 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Donahue, Goldville Addition, are parents of a daughter born today at the Littlefork Hospital. Margaret Ann are the names chosen for the child.
Mrs. Leon LaValley was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party at her home, 418 Seventh St. Hostesses were Mrs. Russell Grey and Miss Norma Buggatti.
Gunder Nybo, 59, prominent merchant and business man of the International Falls area since 1927, died this morning at St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, following an illness of several months’ duration. A Koochiching County pioneer, Mr. Nybo came to Birchdale to open a store 32 years ago and has been in business in the district ever since.
Mrs. Walter E. Olson, who will leave this week with Mr. Olson for Crookston to make their home, was guest of honor at a party at the home of Mrs. Roy Manley, Ihrig Apartments.
