Staff Sgt. Brian J. Briggs of South International Falls recently received the Air Force Achievement Medal for meritorious service from October 1983 to October 1986.
The Falls Care Center/Good Neighbor Properties presented a $500 scholarship to Sharon Obermaier, a nursing student at Rainy River Community College.

David J. Bjork, certified public accountant, has been appointed controller for H & Val J. Rothschild, Inc., St. Paul. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Bjork of the Falls.
Clyde Franklin, 53, and Larry Ableiter, 32, are two new employees of Sheridan Motors Inc.
Mrs. Paul (Carol) Preblich of Ely, has been employed by Rainy River State Junior College as business instructor.

Mrs. Valio Johnson, Ray, entertained the Birthday Club with Mrs. Neil DeBoer as honored guest. Mrs. Arthur Pearson and Mrs. Einar Sundin joined as new members.
Funeral arrangements for Benjamin Seter, 73, a resident of the Falls for 24 years, are awaiting the arrival of son, Clyde, with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Fulton at New London, Conn. Mr. Seter was found dead Monday noon in his hotel room. He was a self-employed carpenter.
James G. Bruggeman, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bruggeman, 807 Fifth St., arrived at St. John’s University, Sept. 9, to begin freshmen orientation.

Terri Christine Palm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Palm, 1018 10th St., was honored on her first birthday anniversary with a party for five little friends.
Pvt. George Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Stewart, 606 10th St., is undergoing training at the Marine Corps recruit depot at San Diego, Calif.
Ray Julien, recently released from active duty with the Air Force, has returned to his position as manager of Julien’s Auto Body Shop.
A party for 32 relatives and friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Sartain, 711 10th St., honored their son, Gary, on his seventh birthday on Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Lemke entertained at a 7 o’clock dinner Sunday in honor of their son Dwayne who will leave for duty with the United States Navy Tuesday.
Miss Dena Toninato is now in Havre, Mont., where she has accepted a position as manager of the Montgomery Ward office.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bergstrom (Ernestine Fairchild) of Loman announce the birth of a son today at the Laurion Maternity Home.
Mrs. Olaf Neset and Mrs. Alfred Johnson were guests of honor at a surprise birthday party at the Neset home at Crystal Beach.
