After 20 years, Phyllis Anderson, 909 13th St., is retiring as sales clerk at Stevenson’s, a woman’s clothing store in the Falls.

Air Force Major Wayne G. Lindstrom, son of Gunnar T. and Pearl M. Lindstrom of Ranier, has been decorated with the second award of the Meritorious Service Medal in West Germany.

 

40 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Chet Hanson and Jo Anne have returned from a trip to Great Falls, Mont., where they visited with the Robert Wolfe family.

C.A. “Chuck” Armstrong announced today that he has formed a partnership in Armstrong Ford and the other businesses he owns and operates. His new partner is Phil Troutwine, 32, who resigned as district manager for the Phillips Petroleum Company in Minneapolis, to join Armstrong

Gary Bigler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bigler of Island View Route, graduated this spring from Moorhead State College.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rasmussen, 804 10th St., were honored Sunday on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hanover, 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

60 YEARS AGO

James Vohler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vohler, South International Falls, arrived home this morning after eight months of service in Korea as an ambulance driver with the 45th Infantry division.

Pvt. Gerald Vohler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vohler, is serving with the 1st Calvary division in Japan.

Miss Colleen Raymond and Miss Barbara White left for Seattle, Wash. Miss Raymond, who graduated from Falls High School last spring, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Raymond, 407 Seventh St. She will be employed in the West.

A farewell party planned by Journal news staff members Thursday evening honored Martin Barber, reporter who is leaving today to join The Daily Pioneer of Bemidji.

Robert Morse and John Edmundson left Sunday for Minneapolis to enroll for their freshman year at University of Minnesota.

One of the city’s outstanding civic leaders, Mrs. Paul H. Kinport, died this morning following a long illness.
