Seventeen-year-old Kristen Bradseth was recently presented with a Harvard Prize Book Award by School District 361 Principal Gary Alexander and Counselor Nick Kantos. The award is given to a junior who “combines excellence in scholarship with achievements in other fields.”

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Folensbee.
Cadet Marlo D. Mellum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald N. Mellum of Route 7, is one of more than 942 cadets who have entered their sophomore year at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Mr. and Mrs. August Lofgren, Littlefork, will be guests of honor on their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday afternoon at the Evangelical Free Church.
Gennifer Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Brown, 717 Fifth St., was elected Junior Princess at the Job’s Daughters meeting at the Masonic Temple. She elected to fill the vacancy left by Janet Flaa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Flaa, who have moved to St. Paul.
Relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mrs. Hazel Staples, Littlefork, on Thursday afternoon to honor her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Manlove on her 88th birthday.
Judge Harvey H. Palmer was guest of honor at a farewell party at the courthouse.

Robert J. Switzer, graduate of the Southern School of Printing, Nashville, Tenn., began work this week at Border Publishing Company as a stock cutter in the bindery department.
Mrs. Robert Raboin, South International Falls, entertained at a birthday party in honor of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert Raboin.
Dick LaPage, Falls High School football and basketball star who gained honors right up to the national level, has enrolled at the University of Minnesota.
Mrs. William Wagner, 231 Ninth St., is confined to Falls Memorial Hospital with back injuries received in a traffic accident. She was walking home after leaving work at Pearson’s Bakery about 10:30 p.m. and started to cross the intersection at Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue when she was struck by a car.

Mrs. Kenneth Hafdahl (Daisy Ekman) was guest of honor at a shower at the home of her mother, Mrs. Samuel Ekman Sr., Goldville Addition.
Mrs. Vernon Hill and Mrs. William Frank were hostesses at a shower at the Frank home in Holler, complimenting Mrs. Henry Westberg.
Mrs. Leo Carlson, Carson-Lupie, was guest of honor at a shower at her home. Hostesses were Mrs. Louis Tippel, Mrs. Lloyd Morrison and Mrs. Robert Caple Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Schell of Loman are parents of a daughter born today at the Northern Minnesota Hospital.
