Drew Blankman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blankman, has enrolled as a first-year student at Oak Hills Bible Institute, Bemidji.
Steve Monrean left two weeks ago for San Diego, Calif., where he is receiving his basic training.

A stork shower was held recently in honor of Mrs. John Morrison, Border, who is expecting her 10th child.
Auditor Earl H. Brittain Jr., 29, Glen Lake, collapsed and died at his desk about 9:30 o’clock this morning in the Municipal Building. He was one of a party of three state auditors that have been examining the municipal records during the past three weeks.
George Hnatiuk, city attorney since April 1955, has been appointed Judge of Probate by Gov. Elmer L. Andersen.
Mrs. Evelyn Dunham, 53, 910 11th St., died at 7 a.m. yesterday at the La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances. She had been ill for the past several months. Mrs. Dunham was owner and operator of Evelyn’s Beauty Shop for the past four years.
60 YEARS AGO
Operations of the Rex Grill, popular Third Avenue restaurant, were transferred to the Rex Hotel management today following sale of the business and equipment by Albert (Blacky) St. Pierre. Hugh E. Spehar, hotel manager, will also manage the grill.
Mr. and Mrs. George Stoffels of Ranier said farewell to many friends and neighbors this week as they prepared to leave for Tucson, Ariz., with their car and trailer home. The Stoffels have sold their home in Ranier to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Polus. They plan to leave Wednesday for a warmer climate because of Mr. Stoffel’s health.
James E. Preece, a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota law school, has announced plans for opening a general legal practice in International Falls Oct. 1 with offices in the Green building, 438 1/2 Third St.
Miss Jean LaFave, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.J. LaFave, 715 Eighth St., left Saturday for Minneapolis where she will reside and be employed as a beautician.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed L’Heaureux, 718 Sixth Ave., announce the birth of a son today at the Laurion Maternity Home. James Edward are the names chosen for the child.
It’s his baby now! Pvt. Reed Christensen has just graduated from a bomb sight maintenance course in Denver and is stationed in New Orleans. He will work with the most secret of America’s war weapons, keeping the vital bomb sights in shape so that our bombardiers can drop their eggs with precision.
Miss Blanche Chezick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Chezick, will leave tomorrow for Minneapolis to continue her training at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Corp. Robert J. Paulson left last evening for Fort Bragg, N.C., after spending his furlough here visiting his friends and other relatives.
