One of 40 University of Minnesota medical students will be spending the next year here learning-by-doing. Mark Marquardt, of Austin, will be in the Falls Sept. 18 to work with Dr. F.H. Walter.
Miss Colleen Friberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Friberg, Ray North Road, is a practical nursing student at the Eveleth Area Technical School.

A cradle shower was given in honor of Mrs. Oscar Anderson and her infant son, William James, born July 31, at the Anderson home, 1604 Fourth Ave. E.
New lady officers of Falls Country Club are: Shirley Boettcher, president; Blanche Banen, vice president; Bette VanderBie, secretary; and Mary Furuseth, treasurer.
“B” league softball champs, Border Bar, are Bud Spears, Robin Zoupas, Bill Pautz, Dennis Freden, Ken Etienne, Dennis Frank and Willard Bruce.
Two teams of trap shooters fought it out this past weekend at the Koochiching County Sportsmen’s Club. They are captained by Leonard Frank and Bob Pullar. Frank’s team won over Pullar’s 92-68 on a 25-bird shoot.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Uehlin, Rice Lake, Wis., announce the engagement of their daughter, Clarice, to James J. Turry, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Turry, 412 Sixth St.
Lee Wagness, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wagness, Robert’s Island, Rainy Lake, was host to eight friends at a Pirate party Sunday afternoon at his home in celebration of his eighth birthday anniversary.
