Koochiching County seniors have a new advocate in Diane Windsness. Windsness, a registered nurse, has been named senior coordinator for KOOTASCA Community Action, Inc.

There will be a retirement party for Dennis Simons immediately following the union meeting Oct. 26 at the Moose Hall.

Sherilyn M. Jonson, daughter of Ron and Rose Marie Jonson of Sunset Cove, has recently been inducted into the Beta Kappa Chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma, a national professional honorary society in the health science field.

Duane and Pamela Lindholm announce the arrival of Cassandra Ann, 8 pounds, 4 1/2 ounces, 21 1/2 inches long, born today at Falls Memorial Hospital.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. George Stoiber.

Ted Bilben of Falls High School was one of 26 Minnesota high school gridders named to WCCO Radio’s All-State Football Team of the Week.

The family of Magna Floe, Loman Route, entertained her in honor of her 88th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Norwig, Papermakers Colony.

Mr. and Mrs. Obert Holmestad celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary with a party for over 70 guests.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Wilson, 6 pounds, 14 ounces, Steven Lynn.

New officers of the Junior Luther League of Zion Lutheran Church are: Mary Jane Wenberg, president; Diane Hams, vice president; Janice Welch, secretary; Carol Tweeter, treasurer and Marit Lee Kucera, Pocket Testament league secretary.

Alan Verrill, Ericsburg, was the winner of last week’s Daily Journal football contest as he correctly predicted the outcome of 11 games while having the lowest margin in difference of scores of the games.

Mrs. Henry Torgerson, French Addition, and Mrs. Roy Miller, 1124 Ninth St., drove to Crookston on Wednesday. Hilda Torgerson, daughter of Mrs. Torgerson, who is a sophomore at the Mt. St. Benedict Academy, Crookston, returned to the Falls to spend the weekend at home.

Mr. and and Mrs. Lester Brunette are parents of a daughter born today in Falls Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces.

Miss Rosemary Kotilinek arrived to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Kotilinek, 810 Fourth St. She recently accepted a position with the crippled children’s division, Minnesota Department of Public Health.

An International Falls navy man, whose quick thinking recently saved a shipmate from being electrocuted, has been recommended to receive the golf life-saving medal, the U.S. Navy at Pensacola, Fla., announced. He is Lowell M. Teal, aviation chief metalsmith, who already holds the Bronze medal for courageous action against the enemy during World War II.

Mrs. Thomas Williams won all her games in cribbage to make a perfect score at the Mando Employees Club party at Odd Fellows Hall Saturday. Ben Thiele was high scorer in cribbage for men.
