Borderland shoppers can check everyone off their holiday shopping lists Nov. 24 at the Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival at the Backus Community Center, according to organizers.

The ninth annual event will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Crafters, artisans and vendors from the area and around the state will offer crafts, arts, edibles and collectibles for sale. The list includes handmade crafts, jewelry, holiday decor, children's items, wreaths, snowman posts, birdhouses, assorted barn board and wood crafts, rice bags, quilted wall hangings, and more. Visit the Backus website — www.backusab.org — for a complete listing of vendors and items.

Hand crafted items and baskets, donated by local businesses and residents, will be featured in a silent auction. Bidding on auction items ends at 3 p.m.

Also returning to the sale this year, members of the Northland Art Society will be offering “Little Treasures” for sale. The art room will also be open that day for display and sales.

In addition to the shopping festivities, a soup and sandwich luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Backus. Cost for the lunch is $8. The local group, Servants of Shelter, is hosting the lunch in recognition of homelessness awareness month.
