Pastor Chris Thoresen has been called to be the pastor of First Assembly of God of International Falls.
Thoresen, his wife Shawna and their daughters have recently moved back to Minnesota from Chicago. The Thoresens are from Grand Rapids, where they were involved in support ministry at the Assembly of God Church.
Thoresen served as pastor at the Karlstad Assembly of God Church from 2014 to 2016. During this time, he went on a mission trip to Tanzania, Africa, and also worked with Rural Compassion Ministries.
He received his associate of arts degree at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids. Further studies were continued at Jamestown College, N.D., and through Lancaster Bible College online studies in Lancaster, Pa., where he received his bachelor of science degree in Biblical studies.
Thoresen is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.
He and Shawna report they are looking forward to ministering at First Assembly as well as to the community of International Falls. He will assume pastoral responsibilities July 16, but will also speak at the church at 10:30 a.m. July 9.
