Margaret Hyatt, facilities director and safety, environment and security officer at Rainy Lake Medical Center, spoke to auxiliary members at their monthly meeting March 6 at the hospital. She covered topics at length including the acronyms RACE (rescue, alarm, contain, extinguish) and PASS (pull, aim, squeeze, sweep). She was accompanied by Tim Rasmussen, facilities engineer, who demonstrated the use of a fire extinguisher.
President Beverly Beck presided at the business meeting at which time committee reports were heard. Chairpersons Pam Hanson and Caroline McDougall reported on the sloppy joe feed which was very successful. Proceeds from that event will benefit a high school student who has selected a medical related career. Applications will be reviewed soon.
Gift shop chairperson Helen Billig said new purses and other new items are on display and for sale at the gift shop.
Several members indicated an interest in attending the Spring Forum of District B Hospital Auxiliaries April 16 in Virginia.
The annual appreciation and awards luncheon will be April 5 with Brenda Jones, hospital liaison, in charge of arrangements.
A surprise birthday cake baked by Sonia Wegge in honor of Helen Billig’s birthday was served.
Attendance prizes were awarded to Brenda Jones, Pam Hanson and Caroline McDougall.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the auxiliary will be at 10 a.m. April 3 at the hospital.
