LITTLEFORK — Littlefork-Big Falls Schools have spirit — yes they do.
The popular cheer was chanted during the school’s pep fest Friday in celebration of the school’s annual homecoming week.
Friday’s early-October rain and snow didn’t drench the noticeable excitement in the atmosphere from almost every student, faculty and staff member — all supporting the school’s colors of black and orange.
The pep fest activities kicked off with Christopher Bachmeier, principal, acting as the event’s master of ceremonies. Bachmeier encouraged applause and cheers from the crowd as each member of the volleyball and football teams introduced themselves.
The first challenge of the pep fest was a girls-against-boys match as varsity volleyball and football players battled to see who could thaw a frozen T-shirt molded into a ball. The first team to successfully put the shirt on was declared the winner.
After several attempts, the girls came out the winners after a little help from a bucket of hot water from their coach.
“Hey, if you’re not cheating, you’re not trying,” Bachmeier said with a laugh.
The next challenge involved tricycles and a course marked with cones. Participants had to maneuver around the obstacle course and cross the finish line before anyone else to boast as the winner.
The challenge was repeated three times with three participants from the L-BF staff, high school and elementary school.
The annual homecoming candidate makeover also proved a popular part of the pep fest as blindfolded king candidates attempted to give queen candidates a makeover. In the end, cheers for the senior king Chase Ballard and queen Courtney Pfeifer declared the pair with the best makeover.
Following the pep fest, students, staff, family and friends braved the rain and snow to cheer on the floats in the homecoming parade.
