The Dungeon is branching out from teen dances and laser light shows and is offering the community to an afternoon of music at the “Harvest of Music” concert.

At 2 p.m. Oct. 17, the newly remodeled basement of the Backus Community Building known as the Dungeon will play host to a variety of music genres — Rainy Lake Community Orchestra, the community band, Faith and the Believers II and the local brass quintet.

The cost for the show is $10 for adults, $5 for students and $25 for families.

John Faith, who has been the driving force behind many of these music groups, and the facilitator of the Dungeon, said he welcomes the chance to bring the community together for the concert.

“People don’t understand that this wonderful stage space is here,” Faith said of the Dungeon. “We’re looking forward to playing for the community. People always relate the Dungeon to the kids. This concert will bring people down there that will make for a more intimate setting. We’ll feature music from about 1933 all the way up to 2010.”

Musicians performing in the “Harvest of Music” will play a variety of music including pop, country, jazz, classical and easy-listening tunes.

“People will be able to come, listen to our music, relax and forget the worries of the day,” Faith explained.

The different groups have been rehearsing for the concert for about two months and hope that this can become an event that they put on every few months.

“We’re also working on bringing plays to the stage,” Faith said.

Faith was sure to note that the elevator to the Dungeon is finally operating, making the space more easily accessible for members of the community wishing to come to the concert.

“Our hope is that when people come to this concert they will not only get an enjoyable afternoon of music, but that by supporting this event, they will enable the performing groups to branch out into the community more,” Faith concluded.
