The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. March 13 by president Pat DeLapp with six members present.
The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers was conducted with Irene Anderson, secretary, pro-tem. There were no petitions for membership.
The general orders and correspondence were read.The meeting minutes from February were read with no corrections.
Treasurer Dawn Flesland presented her report. The report was filed, subject to audit.
Committee reports were given by DeLapp on veterans and family support for Linda Chezick.
The membership report was given by Flesland. Seven members have dues outstanding. Members are at 91.3 percent with 168 total members.
Anderson reported on Americanism and youth activities. A Bingo was planned for 2:30 p.m. March 15 at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls.
Discussion took place concerning prize money for the Patriotic Art Explorer Contest.
Donations were made to the Falls Hunger Coalition, Eighth District (funds from tacos on Monday sales) and Silver Bay Veterans Home for the Spring Fling party.
The Auxiliary received a thank you from The Salvation Army for volunteers who rang the bell at Super One in December.
DeLapp discussed hosting a dinner for Vietnam veterans instead of a breakfast as has been done in the past. The dinner is a possibility for April and will be free of charge to veterans. Donations collected would be sent to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
Door prize was won by John Sirotiak.
The meeting concluded at 8:05 with closing ceremonies.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 10 in the Post Home dining room.
