The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 by president Pat DeLapp with 10 members present.
The opening ritual was held, roll call of officers conducted with Linda Chezick, conductress, pro-tem. There were no petitions for membership. The General Orders and correspondence were read.
We dispensed with the reading of the August meeting minutes and the treasurer’s report as copies were passed out to members present. There were no corrections and the treasurer’s report was filed subject to audit.
Reports on Americanism and Youth Activities were given by Irene Anderson. Sept. 15 was POW/MIA day and the Auxiliary donated a flag to Essentia Health at 10 a.m. Many flags have been donated in the community at local businesses and if they need to be replaced, the businesses need to purchase their POW/MIA flag through the VFW Post.
Bingo was scheduled at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls for 2:15 p.m. Sept. 21.
Chezick reported on Veterans and Family Support. The Auxiliary is selling 2018 calendars, each day there are monetary prize drawings. Contact Chezick to get a calendar. Ten shirt protectors were sent to Silver Bay Veterans Home.
The membership report was given by Dawn Flesland. We are at 82.7 percent paid members with 28 members with dues outstanding.
The Auxiliary will recognize Gold Star Mothers with a lunch at a local restaurant.
The charter was draped for departed member Mary Kruse, who passed away Sept. 2.
Door prize was won epoby Lois Adee.
The meeting concluded at 7:50 p.m. with closing ceremonies.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 10.
