The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 pm. Aug. 14 by president Linda Chezick with 16 members present.
The opening ritual was held and roll call of officers conducted. Secretary was Michele Dahlin, pro-tem. There were no petitions for membership. Minutes of the July meeting along with correspondence and the General Orders were read. The treasurer’s report was read and filed, subject to audit. Pat Delapp reported she will send out notices for members to pay dues. Reports were given on Americanism, Youth Activities, Hospital and Cancer Aid and Research.
A POW/MIA flag will be purchased and donated to a local business.
The rummage sale was reported a success and leftover items were taken to local consignment stores.
Volunteers needed in August were for the 8th District Meeting/Dinner that took place Aug. 18-19; Stand Down at Backus Aug. 29; and a party at the Post for area nursing home residents Aug. 30. A raffle is planned with $10 tickets; proceeds will stay in Koochiching County. Those wishing to purchase a ticket should see Terry Randolph.
The charter was draped in memory of Jacqueline Larsen who passed away July 12.
Donations were made to the Green Shower and Veterans Service Officer Conference in September for a raffle basket.
The door prize was won by Pat Delapp.
The meeting closed at 8:22 p.m. with the closing ceremonies.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 11.
