Five members of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 attended Loyalty Days April 27-29 in Gilbert.
Over the three-day event, the members, which included president Linda Chezick, senior vice president Irene Anderson, treasurer Pat DeLapp, secretary Beth Johnson and soloist Marguerite Kostiuk, attended testimonial dinners for the District 8 VFW Commander and District 8 Ladies Auxiliary President.
Awards and certificates were given to International Falls Post 2948 for outstanding youth activities, Veterans and Family Support Programs, Voice of Democracy, Legislative, Cancer Aid and Research and Patriots Pen programs. Also received was a first place award in Membership.
An auction was conducted with the proceeds donated to the Iron Range Veterans Memorial.
Loyalty Days speakers included Judy Posch, President District 8 Ladies Auxiliary; Jon Clinton, District 8 Commander; Laurie Dale, Junior Vice President, Department of Minnesota Ladies Auxiliary; Don Nix, Past State Commander, Department of Minnesota; and Ward Wallin, Volunteer Services, Silver Bay Veterans Home.
The next 8th District meeting will be conducted Aug. 18-19 in International Falls.
