The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 by president Pat DeLapp. Thirteen members were present.
The opening ritual was held and roll call of officers conducted. There were no petitions for membership. The meeting minutes from July were dispensed to members present and the General Orders were read.
Treasurer Dawn Flesland presented her report and it was filed subject to Audit. The audit report for the months of April, May and June was approved.
The reports on Americanism and Youth Activities was given by Irene Anderson. Bingo will be conducted Sept. 21 at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls. POW/MIA Recognition Day is Sept. 15.
Linda Chezick reported on Veterans and Family Support. The 2018 calendars are in and selling well; more will be ordered.
Membership report was given by Flesland. Annual dues have been coming in and one member has switched from annual member to a life member.
Diane Kelly reported on the lunch donations for a local veteran memorial service and the 8th District meetings meal.
The Stand Down will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at Backus Community Center.
8th District meetings were conducted at 3 p.m. Aug. 12 and at 8 a.m. Aug. 13.
The charter was draped for departed member Leona Larson who passed away Aug. 1.
Door prize was won by DeLapp.
The meeting concluded at 7:50 p.m. with closing ceremonies.
The next meeting is set for 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Post Home.
