In the past year, 126 volunteers at Voyageurs National Park donated nearly 10,000 hours

According to the Voyageurs National Park Association, 9,942 hours of time have been donated in the past year, which translates into 414 days of volunteer time.

At VNPA's Fall Volunteer Rendezvous Sept. 7 and 8, volunteers donated almost 200 hours working on three miles of trails and planting more than 600 plants. Through the dedicated service of park volunteers, Voyageurs accomplishes a tremendous amount of valuable work, notes VNPA staff.

As a result of the volunteers at the 2012 Rendezvous:

• 198 hours that were donated and worked.

• Nearly three miles of hiking and ski trails were cleared

• 615 plants were planted.

"Through the dedicated efforts of volunteers, Voyageurs National Park accomplishes many projects that furthers our mission of preservation and enjoyment of our inspirational landscape,” said Chris Amidon, supervisory park ranger. “The Fall Volunteer Rendezvous was a great success. People near and far came together to participate in the park's operation, upkeep, and appreciation, which fostered a spirit of community stewardship."
