Minnesota Vikings mascot Ragnar and former Viking players Greg Coleman and Stu Voigt are on hand to sign autographs at the beginning of Monday’s “Pulling for Peace” events scheduled at the Pat Roche Landing in International Falls.
However, as the rope for the three tug-of-war events was being strung across the Rainy River while coming on a boat from Canada, the three pulls were called off because of the threatening weather.
Strong wind and heavy rainfall arrived on site shortly after International Falls Mayor Shawn Mason made the announcement of the pulls being canceled.
To make heads or tails of who should be the winner, the international tug-of-war rules call for a coin toss in case of inclement weather. However, because Prime Minister Harper just signed the official declaration making July 2 International Peaceful Borders Day, Team USA gave the trophy back to Team Canada for another year.
