International Falls 4-H sent two teams to the Regional Robotics Tournament in Northome Dec. 8. The teams built robots from Legos and programmed their robots to perform missions specific to the yearly challenge. This year’s subject was “Senior Solutions” and dealt with the challenges that senior citizens face with advancing age. The robotics tournament is a competition where teams and the robots they have designed compete head to head with other teams to complete as many missions as possible in under three minutes. The teams also give a presentation on an innovative solution that they have created to improve the lives of senior citizens. They interview with judges on their project, robot design and teamwork skills. The junior team came home with silver medals and the senior team came home with gold medals and the “Robot Performance Award” for winning the head-to-head robot competition. Robotics team members include: back, Colt Dahlgren, Erika Hufnagle, Jessica Kulig, Jacob Hufnagle, Michael Ciriacy, David Ciriacy, Kaden Bjorkquist, Anders Sarenpa, Connor Sutherland, Holden Sutherland and Gavin Wilson; front, Heather Hall, Jacob Pendergast and Ezra Olson. Missing are Christian Hufnagle and coaches Mary Ciriacy and Jennifer Brekke.
