The Littlefork City Council Thursday agreed to raise city water and sewer rates.
The city will increase water rates to $20 for the first $1,000 gallons and $3.75 for each additional 1,000 gallons.
The city’s previous water rates were set at $18 for the first 1,000 gallons, and $3.25 for each additional 1,000 gallons.
Sewer rates will increase by $2 per month. The city will now charge a monthly rate of $14 for sewer rates.
In other business Thursday, the council agreed to purchase a fire truck from the city of International Falls at a cost of $5,000.
Also Thursday, the council decided to cancel preparations for a bicycle tour suggested by Jeff Tilbury. City Clerk Mike Fairchild reported that he received an email from Tilbury to inform the council that Tilbury will not have time to organize a tour. A committee was established to help organize the tour in January.
Fairchild reports the council heard an update on a Kootasca housing grant. The grant, which allows homeowners to make repairs to their home, is open to seven households deemed eligible within the city of Littlefork. About $21,000 is available to each household selected to receive the grant.
