The Ranier City Council Monday agreed to terminate and add easements for the Three Points North and Riverside Park water project.
In May, the council agreed to an easement on property owned by Susan Schnick in the amount of $4,206. However, because of the amount of bedrock on Schnick’s property, the project needs to be rerouted. Ranier City Clerk Kim Nuthak reported that while the city will request Schnick to pay back the money, “legally, the city cannot make her return the money.”
The council also agreed to move forward with two additional easements on the properties of Adam Howe and Joan Evanoff.
Nuthak told The Journal that because the project was rerouted, Howe and Evanoff’s properties will now be impacted. The city is unsure of what the cost of the easements will be, according to Nuthak. She said Krantz Appraisal is working on appraisals.
The council also agreed to amend an easement on the property of Randy Pozniak. The council in May agreed to an easement on Pozniak’s property in the amount of $12,467.
Nuthak added that there should be no delay in the water project because the property owners have been “very cooperative” with the city.
In other business, the council agreed to donate up to $300 to Ranier Days scheduled for Aug. 11.
The Ranier Liquor Store’s year-to-date profit of $18,943 is down from last year’s of $24,345.
