The Littlefork City Council is expected to consider raising city water and sewer rates when it meets Thursday.

The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Littlefork City Hall. An agenda is considered tentative until the government body begins the meeting and makes additions or deletions to the proposed agenda.

The city’s water rates are now set at $18 for the first 1,000 gallons, and $3.25 for each additional 1,000 gallons. The city has proposed to increase water rates to $20 for the first $1,000 gallons and $3.75 for each additional 1,000 gallons.

Sewer rates are proposed to increase by $2 per month, from the current $12 flat fee to $14.

A Feb. 29 public hearing on raising the rates drew one resident.

In other business Thursday, the council is expected to consider a request from the Littlefork Fire Department to purchase a fire truck from the city of International Falls at a cost of $5,000 to Littlefork.

Also Thursday, the council will hear an update on a bicycle tour suggested by Jeff Tilbury. City Clerk Mike Fairchild told The Journal he received an email from Tilbury to inform the council Tilbury will not have time to organize a tour. A committee was established to help organize the tour in January, and the council is expected Thursday to discuss what to do moving forward.

The council is also expected to hear an update on a KOOTASCA housing grant. The grant, which allows homeowners to make repairs to their home, is open to seven households deemed eligible within the city of Littlefork. About $21,000 is available to each household selected to receive the grant.
