The Monday is expected to establish additional board committees for the 2012-13 school year.

Superintendent Nordy Nelson is scheduled to direct the board to create a labor management committee and finance committee, both new to the board.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in the Falls High School cafeteria. An agenda is considered tentative until the government body begins the meeting and makes additions or deletions to the proposed agenda.

The labor management committee would include representatives from each school building, a principal, board member and Nelson to discuss various items that need to be taken care of, not including outside contract negotiations or discussions.

“It’s a good communication tool to hear the issues staff have,” Nelson said. “It could be anything from a cracked window to scheduling issues around programs for the schools.”

The finance committee is expected to be composed of three board members that will review the district’s budget.

“That committee will provide information on where we sit and suggest possible adjustments that need to be made to stay up to date,” Nelson said.

Resignations

The board is scheduled to accept the resignation of Andy Fougner, elementary teacher; Elizabeth Strandberg, vocal music instructor; Raija Bergstrom, educational support professional; and Rachel Amdahl, community education director.

The board is scheduled to consider extending the work days of the guidance counseling position by 20 days for the upcoming school year; six days for the librarian position and six days for the dean of students position with additional days as needed.

A discussion is also scheduled about the community education director position, and vote is expected on hiring an elementary principal.

The board is scheduled to close the meeting to  discuss negotiation strategies for contracts with the teachers’ union Education Minnesota International Falls Local 331, and with the Local 510, representing custodians’ secretaries and food service staff.
